Practical 4iR skills for a changing economy.
SKILL is Tye’s practical 4iR program connecting underserved young people in rural Uganda with AI, digital technologies, innovation, prototyping, markets and enterprise.
From skills to impact
Learning should open a path to opportunity.
Many young people in rural communities have limited access to advanced digital tools, practical technology learning and technology-enabled enterprise opportunities. SKILL responds by bringing learning, innovation and shared infrastructure closer to communities — and by connecting skills with practical economic activity.
Four connected areas of practice.
AI & Digital Skills
Digital fundamentals, AI essentials, prompt engineering, productivity tools and emerging digital capabilities.
Innovation & Prototyping
Learners identify local problems, develop ideas, build prototypes and improve solutions through practice.
4iR Technologies
Practical exposure to robotics, IoT, digital fabrication, renewable energy, automation and other relevant technologies.
Enterprise & Employment
Mentorship, apprenticeships, market linkages and enterprise pathways help move skills toward income.
From access to income.
Provide practical digital, AI and 4iR learning through schools and shared community facilities.
School Innovation Teams and community innovators apply technology to real local needs.
Prototype, refine, commercialize and connect useful products and services to markets.
Skills → Innovation → Prototyping → Production → Markets → Income
SKILL is designed to make the journey beyond certification visible and practical.
Starting with underserved rural communities.
The initial network focuses on 30 CLASS schools in Sheema, Buhweju and surrounding communities, reaching young people, students, teachers, schools, community innovators and emerging entrepreneurs.
Young people
Students and other young people developing practical digital, AI and enterprise capabilities.
Teachers & schools
Teachers and schools equipped to integrate digital learning, AI and innovation into education.

What SKILL aims to achieve.
The program also targets 60% of trainees demonstrating practical competencies.
Help build practical opportunities for the next generation.
Schools, mentors, technology partners, markets, donors and other collaborators can help extend the SKILL ecosystem.
